C.J. Astrea is a long-haul trucker, independent author, and lifelong builder of worlds. They spent years creating characters, magic systems, and entire civilizations in their head before finally realizing they could put them on the page and invite other people inside.
They are the author of the Celestial Twins series and The Blacksmith’s Son, writing progression fantasy and LitRPG about hard-earned power, survival, trauma, and the families people choose along the way. They love detailed systems, character evolution, expansive worlds, and victories that leave their mark.
At conventions, C.J. is usually easy to find: look for the Hawaiian shirt and the straw cowboy hat their grandfather gave them. They also design much of their own merchandise and will happily talk about fantasy, character builds, or worldbuilding for far longer than anyone intended.
Their most important rule remains simple: Soup is sacred. Nobody dies during soup.
“It is in this broken lattice of infinity that a new spark flickers. A new world for the system to control. Earth. Unremarkable. Unready. And yet, watched.
The system arrives. Not kind. Not cruel. Just inevitable. The towers rise. The tutorial begins. First come the choices. The classes. Then levels. And the cost.
Not everyone survives. Not everyone is meant to. Because the System does not serve mercy. It serves potential.”
— Gemini, Celestial Twins Book One
When the System descends on Earth, twins Kalen and Aria Stern are torn apart and thrown into a lethal tutorial built to break them. Armed with new classes, growing powers, and a bond the System cannot fully understand, they must fight through monsters, deadly towers, and rival survivors to find each other—and build something worth surviving for.
The tutorial is over, but survival has only grown more complicated. Kalen, Aria, and the survivors of Gemini emerge into a vast new world of floating islands, monster waves, and looming faction wars. To protect the family they have chosen, they must claim territory, conquer towers, strengthen their people, and discover what their Celestial Twin bloodline is truly capable of.
Reviews
This book hits. It's got a ton of small group fighting featuring some OP leveling and major loot drops. The author isn't afraid of stakes though so be prepared for a few gut punches. Can't wait to see book 2!
This book was so much fun to read. With a huge cast of characters, numerous clashes with monsters and bosses, and an epic and heart-rending climax, this lit-rpg has got to be one of the top newest additions to its genre.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
The story building that the author has gone through is truly exceptional. They have successfully made a world that people fall in love with a collective of flawed beings that make the impossible choices when needed no matter the consequences. I implore you if you enjoyed book 1 it just keeps getting better and keeps you wanting more. Soup is sacred. Nobody dies during soup. All the love for this fantastic new series
